PRISHTINA, 7 April 2009 – Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Committee of the Independent Judicial and Prosecutorial Commission (IJPC) that aims to coordinate efforts related to the project of verifying candidates for future judges and prosecutors of Kosovo.
Through this MoU signatories agree to mutual cooperation in the process of appointing judges and prosecutors in order to ensure appropriate capacity building in the justice system in Kosovo to have a professional staff with high moral integrity and ethics.
IJPC was established by UNMIK Regulation No. 2006/25 on Regulatory framework for the Judicial System in Kosovo within the Kosovo Judicial Council. The establishment of this Commission was done in order to conduct a comprehensive review and selection of individuals of Kosovo, who will be appointed to serve as judges and prosecutors to the retirement age.
