The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (APC) organized an open lecture and discussion with students of the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina, aiming to present the mandate, role, and activities of the Agency in the fight against corruption. Senior officials of the APC provided detailed answers to students’ questions and concerns, contributing to raising awareness and civic education on issues of integrity and transparency.
This activity was conducted as part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional transparency, promote civic education, and encourage younger generations to become active defenders of public values in the Republic of Kosovo.
At the opening of the lecture, Mr. Liridon Nika, Director of the Department for Administration and General Services and Deputy Director of the APC, presented in detail the mandate and main activities of the Agency, emphasizing its key role in preventing corruption and promoting transparency in public institutions.
Following this, Mr. Afrim Atashi, Director of the Department for Asset and Gift Control, presented the mechanisms for controlling the assets and gifts of public officials, focusing on the legislation and measures the APC undertakes to ensure transparency and accountability. Subsequently, Mr. Esad Ejupi, Director of the Department for Prevention of Conflict of Interest, introduced the concept of conflict of interest and explained how the Agency identifies and prevents such cases. He stressed the importance of enforcing APC decisions by public institutions. Both Mr. Atashi and Mr. Ejupi responded to numerous student questions regarding practical procedures for asset and gift control as well as specific cases of conflict of interest.
Prior to the lecture, APC officials held a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mr. Avni Puka, and the Vice Dean, Mr. Ardrit Gashi, where they discussed deepening inter-institutional cooperation and opportunities for joint projects promoting legality and integrity.
This activity provided students with a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge about the role and functions of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, as well as to learn more about best practices in transparency and accountability within public administration.
