The Agency for Prevention of Corruption (APK), in cooperation with the European Commission’s Technical Assistance Instrument – TAIEX, organized a two-day workshop dedicated to reporting mechanisms and European Union standards in the field of public integrity.

The workshop, attended by the professional staff of the APK, addressed key topics related to asset declaration and verification, gifts, and whistleblower protection. Experts from EU Member States presented the most advanced European practices and approaches for enhancing institutional transparency and accountability.

In his remarks, the Director of APK, Mr. Yll Buleshkaj, emphasized the importance of strengthening professional capacities and aligning the Agency’s processes with EU standards. He provided numerous concrete examples of case resolutions carried out by APK in the Republic of Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the representative of the EU Office in Kosovo, Ms. Fotini Antonopoulou, praised the continuous cooperation and institutional commitment to advancing public integrity.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Mr. Silviu Popa, an expert from Romania, who shared practical experiences on EU models for improving systems of asset declaration and verification, as well as effective approaches for addressing cases related to gifts.

On the topic of whistleblowing and its role in preventing corruption, an important contribution on the second day of the workshop was provided by Ms. Monika Kalinauskiene from Lithuania, who highlighted the importance of full and effective whistleblower protection, citing various cases from EU Member States.

Experts from Ireland, Ms. Catheryne McCarthy and Mr. Niall Colbert, also joined the workshop online, presenting valuable practices on modern reporting mechanisms and whistleblower protection at the European level.

Throughout the two days, participants discussed concrete cases and practical solutions used in EU countries, which will contribute to further strengthening the professional capacities and mechanisms of the Agency.

The Agency for Prevention of Corruption assesses that such activities help reinforce public integrity and strengthen its role as a key institution in preventing corruption in Kosovo. APK remains committed to advancing toward European Union standards and deepening cooperation with international partners.
