The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, led by the Director of the Agency, Yll Buleshkaj, is participating in a one-day workshop organized in order to identify the existing gaps in the development of anti-corruption strategies, with a focus on regional cooperation and the role of institutions that oversee the implementation Theirs.

The workshop also aims to share the collective experiences and expertise of Institutions and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from the Western Balkans region, including Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

In the introductory speech, the director of the Agency, Yll Buleshkaj, emphasizes that “the prevention and fight against corruption requires continuous engagement and extensive cooperation between the government, the private sector, civil society and the international community”.

Ms. Jelena Perović, director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption in Montenegro, emphasizes the imperative for agencies to be financially and professionally independent in order to perform their functions unhindered. In Montenegro this is ensured by guaranteeing a certain percentage from the state budget which cannot be reduced, and by removing the need for the Agency’s work reports to be approved by parliament, but the reports are sent only for notification purposes.

Mr. Vedat Sogojeva, director of the office for strategic planning, within the Prime Minister’s Office, appreciates not only the need for the exchange of experiences but also the ideal time in which the round table is organized, which corresponds to the drafting process of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy of Kosovo.

This table was organized by the FOL Movement within the project “Effective fight against corruption” (ECAC) supported by IFES.
