PRISHTINA, 22 January 2008 – Director of Anti-Corruption Agency Mr. Hasan Preteni agreed on Tuesday that the institution he leads become part of an inter-regional project of UNDP to establish an anti-corruption strategy that will include several Balkan countries.
During the meeting he had with Project Manager Mr. Sladjana Taseva from Skopje, Mr. Preteni welcomed the UNDP initiative to develop this strategy, involving several Balkan countries, Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“This initiative of UNDP is encouraging because that encourages Balkan countries to join ideas and share their experiences in the favour of creating the best joint anti-corruption strategies. We will be part of this initiative and will seriously commit as a society that this destructive phenomenon of corruption does not take place in Kosovo nor in any of the countries that surround us”, said Preteni.
After initial conversations that UNDP will hold with relevant anti-corruption institutions, on 11 February in Skopje, Macedonia it will gather all representatives of these countries to make the first steps to developing inter-regional strategy for combating corruption.
