A two member delegation for the Agency for Prevention of Corruption of Kosovo, led by the Director of Agency, Yll Buleshkaj, participated in the High-Level International Conference “Strengthening Accountability: Empowering efforts against corruption in the Western Balkans”,  co-organized by the State Minister for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption of Albania and the Ministry of Justice of Albania, along with the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC). The conference was held in Tirana, Albania from 4 to 5 of the March 2024.

This event was a follow-up to the successful meeting that was held in Šibenik, Croatia in May 2022 which adopted the Šibenik Conclusions. The Conference provider an opportunity for representatives of governmental institutions, criminal justice institutions, international and regional organizations, academia, and civil society to discuss issues of common interest and concern related to strengthening accountability and a culture of integrity.

Director Buleshkaj was part of the Panelist to the Panel discussion on “National strategies and experiences in the prevention of corruption”. Buleshkaj noted the necessity of national strategies as a mean of orienting important state resources towards the objective of prevention and fight of corruption. He mentioned the Kosovar experience of having consultative meetings with all the stakeholders during drafting process and the paramount importance of contributions given by the civil society. Further setting clear objectives, activities and indicators is a must for these important documents.

Part of these conference were more than 22 senior law enforcement and anticorruption authorities from six countries, 50 panelists in 8 discussion panels, and 20 international and local organizations.
